Marketing a CBD beverage amid uncertain regulations

Green Monkey Beverages was marketing its sparkling (cannabidiol) CBD beverage at the show, which it claims is the first carbonated CBD drink on the UK market. NutritionInsight spoke to Tom Carroll on the uncertain regulatory environment surrounding CBD products following the designation of CBD as an unauthorized Novel Food. Carroll, however, is optimistic for the future and notes that European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) may have been “heavy-handed” with its regulation.
