Innova Market Insights data indicates that between July 2019 and June 2024, the use of nutraceuticals and functional ingredients in global supplement and sports nutrition product launches grew by 5%. Europe accounted for the largest share, leading with 40% of all NPD. While 23% of these launches featured brain and mood health claims, there has also been significant growth in nutraceuticals targeting microbiome health.
Health-boosting botanicals innovation

Innova Market Insights data indicates that global launches of supplements and sports nutrition products with botanical ingredients have grown 6% from July 2019 to June 2024. From July 2023 to June 2024, Supplements made up 64% of these launches, with Cocoa Powder being the leading botanical ingredient. The top positionings were Immune Health (23%), Brain-Mood Health (22%) and Energy & Stamina (22%).
Managing menopause innovation

Innova Market Insights data indicates that supplement launches with menopause claims are increasing globally, featuring a +15% year-over-year growth when comparing Apr 2022 – Mar 2023 and Apr 2023 – Mar 2024 launches. In Apr 2023 – Mar 2024, the top subcategory of global supplement launches tracked with menopause claims was Women Specialty, taking half the total NPD. Vitamin B6 was the leading ingredient. Meanwhile, women’s health was at the top, with 82% of launches.
