Healthy aging: Monat unveils wellness range, Nestlé launches cellular decline online resource

15 Sep 2020 --- Monat Global Corp has unveiled a healthy aging wellness line ranging from a vegan collagen-boosting powder to a pre- and probiotic capsule and a natural energy drink. Meanwhile, Nestlé Health Science (NHSc) has launched an educational platform to build awareness of Age-Associated Cellular Decline (AACD)’s role in the aging process.

Monat’s collection is designed to offer effective, low-maintenance products that can naturally support skin and hair health, as well as boost the gut, the company says.

“The keys to looking and feeling our best all boil down to three core pillars. These are proper nutrition, rest and exercise,” notes Dr. Brent Agin, who helped develop the line.

“We designed Monat Wellness to encourage a positive, uncomplicated approach to optimizing these areas of our lives, supporting well-being as part of our daily routine,” Agin adds.

Industry is seeing increased innovation in the vegan collagen arena especially with Evonik launching a variety in March, produced via fermentation. In the same space, South Korean company Cosmax NBT launched Agatri, an ingestible beauty product touted for its anti-aging, collagen-boosting and skin-improving properties.

Category expansion
The launch marks the company’s third category expansion, preceded by hair and skincare franchises that helped grow the brand.

• Monat Balance: A pre- and probiotic capsule-in-capsule with delayed-release technology and a custom herbal blend including turmeric, ginger and rice bran.
• Monat Energy: A grab and go drink mix with 50 mg caffeine from green coffee, with adaptogens and bioavailable B12 to promote more natural energy than espresso, without jitters or a crash.
• Collagen Key: A vegan support for the body’s natural production of collagen. Adds strength and resilience to hair, skin and nails.
• Total Greens: An all in one powder infused with 37 antioxidant-rich fruits and vegetables, dietary fiber to support energy and immune health.

Monat plans to expand the line later this year with Monat Sleep Drops, a soothing elixir to quiet the mind and relax the body for a restorative sleep without morning grogginess. 

Healthy aging education
Monat says that the three core pillars of healthy aging are proper nutrition, rest and exercise.  In the same space, NHSc launched MYAACD.org, which is an educational platform to drive awareness of Age-Associated Cellular Decline (AACD). The new website consolidates important advances in scientific discovery that show how cellular health plays a key role in why and how we age.

Research from international experts in the field of aging and cellular function has shown that several of the key complaints of aging could be associated with changes in biological processes happening at the cellular level. 

The decline in these cellular mechanisms is being defined as AACD, a time-related deterioration in the way cells function as people age, which often begins in the 40s and accelerates in the 60s. 

They can manifest in performance “gaps” that emerge at different times and grow at different rates depending on the individual.

“The quest to understand and combat aging is certainly not a new one, but this research gives us new insights into the natural aging process,” says Greg Behar, CEO of NHSc.
