14 Mar 2019 --- Green tea is increasingly recognized for its widening health halo, and US researchers have now linked it to improved gut health. The drink may hold benefits for people at high risk of diabetes and heart disease, note the researchers, after a study found that its extract cut obesity and the number of inflammatory biomarkers linked with poor health in a recent mice study. They say, however, should the benefits prove true in humans, green tea supplements may not be a suitable substitute for drinking the beverage because of how the body metabolizes the catechins in the tea.
