Gencor partners with Gnosis by Lesaffre to bring Landkind Pure Salidroside to US consumers
12 Sep 2024 --- Gencor announces a new partnership with Gnosis by Lesaffre to facilitate the distribution of the sustainable Rhodiola bioactive Landkind Pure Salidroside in the US. Gnosis’ Landkind Pure Salidroside will be the first and only fermented salidroside bioactive with clinical data supporting its efficacy in sports nutrition on the US market.
“We are incredibly proud to add Gnosis’s sustainable, ethical and clinically backed Rhodiola bioactive to our sports nutrition portfolio,” says Ramasamy Venkatesh, co-founder and managing director at Gencor. “We are passionate about providing ingredients with human clinical data to meet and exceed the needs of today’s and tomorrow’s consumers.”
Nicole Lemus, Gnosis by Lesaffre director for the Americas, adds: “We selected Gencor as our partner because of their expertise, longevity and reputation in the industry. At Gnosis, we believe that promoting well-being is as important as preserving our environment, a principle that begins with our production techniques.”
“We are passionate about preserving this botanical species and understanding their great potential for human health. Through fermentation, we’ve ethically developed the most studied and main bioactive, salidroside, in a convenient, consistent nutraceutical for sports and active nutrition.”
Rhodiola bioactive
A recent clinical study demonstrated Rhodiola bioactive Landkind Pure Salidroside’s effectiveness in enhancing oxygen uptake during exercise at 60 mg/day.
Rhodiola rosea and R. crenulata extracts are associated with improved energy levels. Salidroside is Rhodiola’s most studied bioactive, shown to be essential to its efficacy.
Landkind Pure Salidroside differs from other Rhodiola ingredients as it is produced through a fermentation process. This is significant because it means the benefits of the botanical can be extracted without the need to harvest the endangered Rhodiola species.
Currently, the increasing demand for Rhodiola has threatened the plant species with overharvesting. In 2023, all species in the genus were added to the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species list of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES) in an attempt to improve the sustainability of its harvest and trade.
As it is produced through fermentation instead of wild harvesting of the plant, Landkind Pure Salidroside is an “inherently CITES compliant” source of Rhodiola.
Last year, Landkind received a GRAS (Generally Recognized As Safe) approval for its LK-01 pure salidroside.
The ingredient is suitable for capsules, tablets, powders and more. It is Halal-certified, vegan and gluten-free.
