09 Oct 2017 --- Research on a large sample of Canadians suggests that most people with celiac disease are unaware that they have it. Researchers studied the blood work of almost 3,000 Canadians and found that one in 114 (or almost one percent) had elevated antibodies that indicate they suffered from celiac disease, which causes gastric distress and other symptoms. However, almost 90 percent were unaware they had the disease.
