31 Aug 2018 --- New research has pointed to another reason men might want to check their protein consumption, after a lack of protein in a father's diet was found to affect sperm quality, directly impacting on the long-term health of their offspring. The study, Paternal diet programs offspring health through sperm- and seminal plasma-specific pathways in mice, fed male mice a poor quality diet which resulted in their offspring becoming overweight, with symptoms of Type 2 diabetes and reduced expression of genes which regulate the metabolism of fat.
